Rémy Martin celebrates its 50-year alliance with its wine-growing partners

16 June 2016

On June 16th, 2016 in Cognac, the company Rémy Martin and the Alliance Fine Champagne gathered together nine hundred wine-growing partners in the family property of Grollet in Saint-Même-les-Carrières (Charente department) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Alliance Fine Champagne, the cooperative that supplies the company with eaux-de-vie from Grande and Petite Champagne.

It was in 1966 that Rémy Martin threw itself into a revolutionary project: to set up a contractual association to work as a genuine long-term partnership between trading company and wine-grower. One undertakes to sell (the wine-grower), and the other to buy (the trading company). This deep commitment between the parties creates an unwavering bond between the partners.

This is the origin of the Alliance Fine Champagne.

Rémy Martin selects only eaux-de-vie from the two most sought-after Cognac growths: Grande and Petite Champagne. In these light, limestone Champagne soils, the roots of the vine can easily grow to a considerable depth, allowing them to take in the very best of the terroir.

In 2005, the association between the company Rémy Martin and the wine-growers was given the name Alliance Fine Champagne by François Hériard Dubreuil, the current Chairman of the Rémy Cointreau Group. It is the result of the merger of two partner cooperatives: Champaco and Prochacoop.

Over the course of 50 years, the relationship between the trading company and its suppliers has always proven to be far-reaching and fruitful. There is always a genuine and meaningful discussion, based on a spirit of transparency and mutual respect.

Today, the wine-growers in the cooperative are also shareholders, giving new impetus to the original agreement and creating a unique bond between the cooperative and its customer.
