Fondation Rémy Cointreau

Terroir, people and time are the values that our Group holds dearly and that guide us in our daily work.

Our commitment to our CSR objectives is genuine, so we constantly review our practices to assure that they align with to our corporate and environmental responsibilities. Hence, the creation of Fondation Rémy Cointreau in 2017.

The outcome of family discussions, Dominique Hériard Dubreuil, Chairman of the foundation, convened Hervé Dumesny (SVP CSR & Public Affairs at Rémy Cointreau), Ludovic Legros (Consolidation Manager at Rémy Cointreau) and Caroline Martin-Rilhac (General Delegate of Fondation Rémy Cointreau) for the executive committee. Together, they defined our fondation’s mission based on one key value: transmission.

As our Cellar Masters share their exceptional savoir-faire with generations of Cellar Masters to come, our foundation helps exceptional artisans transmit their savoir-faire to future generations. Transmission is the common thread in all of our actions.

The foundation’s mission is “to support public interest initiatives, in France and abroad, in order to showcase and convey invaluable savoir-faire and expertise. The foundation also promotes and protects terroir in its cultural, environmental and human expression.”

The Board of Directors—composed of the executive committee members and two independent philanthropy experts: Stanislas de Quercize (former Chairman of Richemont) and Agnès Lamoureux (former Communication Director of the Fondation de France)—met for the first time in June 2018.

The first decision

to focus our foundation’s grants on ensuring the sustainability of exceptional traditional craftsmanship within four key areas:

  • Promotion of exceptional savoir-faire (investment in tools and required components),
  • Transmission (supporting apprenticeships and training),
  • Reach (participation in trade shows in France and abroad aimed at raising awareness of the importance of passing
    on craftsmanship, heritage, etc.),
  • Skill-based philanthropy (encouraging the commitment of Group employees to the foundation’s initiatives).

Eight selection criteria

Eight criteria were chosen to guide the selection of applications :

  • outstanding craftsmanship,
  • transmission,
  • longevity,
  • passion,
  • aesthetics,
  • heritage,
  • innovation,
  • philanthropy.

Given that Fondation Rémy Cointreau was
recently established, we decided not to wait for unsolicited applications and immediately started our search for
exceptional artisans. After meeting more than a hundred artisans, six, to date, have been selected by the Board of
Directors.

As our Cellar Masters, they transmit their exceptional savoir-faire to future generations.

As our group supports our terroir and our people through time, our foundation will support and guide our artisans over time, in hope of securing the long-term future of their studios and savoir-faire. Learn more on Fondation Rémy Cointreau’s website.
