ONF partnership: reforestation of the François I park in Cognac

Protecting biodiversity and combating climate change: reforestation and raising public awareness

To support the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) “Plant for the Planet” campaign, the ONF (the French National Forestry Office) coordinates oak reforestation initiatives in France.

Following initial action in 2010, the partnership with the ONF was renewed in 2013 and 2014. Rémy Martin has funded renovation work in the François I Park in Cognac. The redevelopment was consistent with the landscaping study requested by the local authorities.

More than 300 oak trees were planted, and a timber-framed observatory was set up on a natural headland. A flora and fauna discovery trail was also created with information boards put up to raise general public awareness of the biodiversity conservation challenges.
