Protecting biodiversity and combating climate change: reforestation and raising public awareness
The ONF (the French National Forestry Office) coordinates oak reforestation initiatives in France in line with the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) “Plant for the Planet” campaign. In 2015, a third sponsorship project was agreed in partnership with the ONF. Rémy Martin funded the layout work in La Braconne Bois-Blanc—a national forest located east of Angoulême, and the largest wooded area in the Charente region.
The ONF also created a multimedia trail in an effort to raise public awareness of forest protection, provide high-quality facilities and offer a fun and innovative way of exploring the forest. New information and communication technologies are used to convey the message, while a smartphone mobile app has also been created.
