Protecting biodiversity and combating climate change: reforestation and raising public awareness
The ONF (the French National Forestry Office) coordinates oak reforestation initiatives in France in line with the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) « Plant for the Planet » campaign. In 2015, a third sponsorship project was agreed in partnership with the ONF. Rémy Martin funded the layout work in La Braconne Bois-Blanc—a national forest located east of Angoulême and the largest wooded area in the Charente region.
The ONF also created a multimedia trail in an effort to raise public awareness of forest protection, provide high-quality facilities and offer a fun and innovative way of exploring the forest. New information and communication technologies are used to convey the message while a smartphone mobile app has also been created.
