Biodiversity conservation in Scotland: the Bruichladdich Academy

Biodiversity protection and the conservation of natural resources

In 2004, Bruichladdich began a project to re-establish traditional barley plants on the Isle of Islay. Its motto illustrates this commitment: We believe terroir matters.

In 2015, the Bruichladdich Academy was founded to allow visitors to “see and feel” the intensity of the terroir. As a result, it now gives tours to offer a better understanding of not only the island, but also its culture and the distillery’s philosophy. Several hundred people from all over the world have already made the journey.
