Biodiversity conservation in Scotland: The Botanist Foundation

Biodiversity protection and the conservation of natural resources

Twelve years ago, Bruichladdich began a project to re-establish traditional barley plants on the Isle of Islay. This experiment has been carried out with various varieties of barley to help protect the terroir, in complete alignment with the Bruichladdich commitment: We believe terroir matters.  Meanwhile, The Botanist has demonstrated its environmental commitment by launching a Foundation which aims to work with Islay residents to improve the understanding and conservation of local botanical diversity. The goal is to ensure that the island’s crop harvests are sustainable and responsible to guarantee the long-term conservation of species.
